Antonio Cammarata obtained his PhD in Physics at the Università degli Studi di Palermo (Italy). He then moved to Philadelphia (US) to work as post-doctoral researcher at the Drexel University, where he also served as recitation instructor in "Fundamental of Materials" course and mentored students. He investigated on charge-ordering in Perovskites, hybrid-improper ferroelectricity of Ruddelsden-Popper phases, Second Harmonic generation in nonlinear optically active materials among other reasearch projects. Such activities produced in parallel new universal theoretical frameworks, like a new definition of bond covalency and electro-structural rules to design new materials with tunable metal-insulator transition or with enhanced nonlinear optical response. In the period 2014-2016, he worked as post-doctoral researcher in the Advanced Materials Group at the Department of Control Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic). He is now involved in the ab-initio investigation of nanostructured materials for applications in the field of tribology, optics, electronics and energy harvesting/saving. He developed a new lattice-dynamic metric named "cophonicity" able to capture the electro-vibrational coupling and to guide the design of new materials. In June 2016  he has been appointed as Assistant Professor and from June 2023 he has been appointed as Associate Professor, both at the Department of Control Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic) where he currently works.
