International Faculty recruitment at the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Sciences

The Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Sciences (IFFS) as a leading research department in University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), located in the city of Chengdu in China, is expanding its multidisciplinary research capacity through hiring several senior and junior international faculties. Owing to its multidisciplinary nature, the institute welcomes scientists from all fields of natural sciences. Faculty is recruited through two different programs, based on seniority.

Senior Faculty Position

• Annual salary: 900,000 CNY (before tax) with increments and performance-based bonus.
• Start-up grant: no less than 5 million CNY Relocation subsidy: up to 3 million CNY.
• Team building support: UESTC and IFFS cover the base salary and incentives of postdoctoral researchers (260,000 - 450,000 CNY depending on the postdoc CV). Furthermore, IFFS subsidizes an extra yearly fund of 100,000 CNY for postdoctoral researcher salaries at the discretion of the group leader.
• Assistance: Job offers for spouse, children education, high-end healthcare plan, along with other benefits.
• Requirements: The applicant should currently hold a faculty position, equivalent to associate professor or full professor, with an excellent and sustained research track record of high-quality publications and securing research funding.

Junior Faculty Position

• Annual salary: 420,000 - 600,000 CNY per year (before tax)
• Accommodation: free furnished apartment for 1 year Start-up grant: 1-6 million CNY Relocation subsidy: 0.6 - 2.2million CNY.
• Team building support: UESTC and IFFS cover the base salary and incentives of postdoctoral researchers (260,000 - 450,000 CNY depending on the postdoc CV). Furthermore, IFFS subsidizes an extra yearly fund of 100,000 CNY for postdoctoral researcher salaries at the discretion of the group leader.
• Requirements: The applicant should be under 40 years old and hold a doctoral degree in any field of natural sciences from a world-renowned university. The applicant should have an excellent research track record with high quality publications and have experience of participating in successful grant applications.

About the Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Sciences

The Institute of Fundamental and Frontier Sciences (IFFS) is an interdisciplinary department at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, China. It was established in 2014 as a "Special Academic Zone" and focuses on advanced high-level fundamental science and cutting-edge technologies. Up to now IFFS has formed up more than 30 top research teams and been granted with one national research platform and two provincial and ministerial research platforms, 23 key national projects and more than 100 Natural Science Foundation of China projects.
