Application Deadline: October 31, 2024

Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics Center at Vilnius University offers a postdoctoral position in particle physics phenomenology. The successful candidate will integrate into an existing research group, working in high energy physics theory and phenomenology under the supervision of Thomas Gajdosik and in collaboration with Vytautas Dūdėnas. The primary focus will be on the phenomenology of the Grimus-Neufeld model (GNM).

Vilnius University (VU) is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Eastern and Central Europe. It tops the ranking as the number one university in Lithuania and leads the country in education, a broad spectrum of fundamental and applied research, training and retraining programs, and consultancy services and provides research and development services to a wide range of businesses. VU offers dynamic research and training environment and is well integrated into a collaborative network of international universities.

VU Faculty of Physics research teams contribute to experimental particle physics research at the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The applied physicists are also involved in DRD3 and DRD6 Collaborations. The experimental data analysis group performs the CMS data analysis, contributes to the CMS Tracker Phase II upgrade.

Main Goals:

- Provide the EFT matching of the GNM to the relevant Wilson operators of SMEFT and document the procedure.

- Provide constraints on the GNM by reinterpreting existing experimental data.

- Investigate promising processes and compare the predictions to them drawn from the full GNM and the approximated SMEFT matched version of the GNM.

Requirements:

- Ph.D. in high energy physics phenomenology or theory.

- Knowledge of Effective Field Theory methods.

- Proficiency in written and spoken English.

We Offer:

- A gross salary of a minimum of 2550 EUR/month for the first year, with

the possibility of an increase based on performance and qualifications.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit the following documents to Andrius Juodagalvis at andrius.juodagalvis@tfai.vu.lt:

- Curriculum Vitae

- Brief summary of research interests

- List of Publications

- At least 2 letters of Reference, sent directly to Andrius Juodagalvis at andrius.juodagalvis@tfai.vu.lt
