Job Details
The Physics Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a leading research and development organization dedicated to experimental physics serving the national interest for 80 years. We design, execute, and analyze experiments that challenge, improve, and validate our understanding of fundamental physics underpinning LANL's national security mission. We operate multiple facilities within the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) and employees have opportunities to collaborate with and conduct experiments at facilities throughout the world.
Why work for us
Located in beautiful northern New Mexico, LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL is committed to the importance of employee wellbeing and a healthy work–life balance. Our generous benefits package includes an award-winning 401K, comprehensive insurance with a large nationwide network, flexible schedules, time off, wellness programs, parental leave, relocation packages, and more. The high desert mountains of northern New Mexico offer ample sunshine and easy access to outdoor recreational opportunities.
Training and development
LANL’s Education Assistance Program offers support to eligible and approved employees who wish to pursue an academic degree, job-related course work, or a certificate program relevant to the mission of the Laboratory. We have established partnerships with numerous universities to assist in educational development. As part of a large institution, we offer close interactions with colleagues from different fields through joint projects and events.
What we are looking for
We offer opportunities for post-doctoral researchers, students, engineers, scientists, technicians, and technologists. Our expertise spans nuclear physics, high-energy density and magnetized plasma physics, heavy ion physics, radiography, precision neutron science, neutrino science, weak interaction physics, and a variety of imaging and diagnostic techniques. We are looking for people who want to collaborate on and solve multi-disciplinary challenges.
