The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP) at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar to work under the direction of the Theory Group.
The Theory Group expects to have postdoctoral fellow positions open for the academic year 2024-2025, renewable for up to three years. The theoretical high-energy physics group includes faculty members Wolfgang Altmannshofer, Michael Dine, Stefania Gori, Howard Haber, Stefano Profumo, and Edgar Shaghoulian, as well as several postdocs and students. The group has close ties and interactions with the local high-energy astrophysics, Vera Rubin Observatory, DES and ATLAS groups, with theorists Joel Primack and Anthony Aguirre, and with several members of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Department at UCSC.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct theoretical physics research in areas such as particle phenomenology and model building, astroparticle physics, cosmology, quantum field theory, string theory, and quantum information/quantum gravity. At least one position will be designated for work in quantum information/quantum gravity and quantum field theory.
