The Department of Earth, Marine, and Environmental Sciences at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the assistant professor level who works broadly in the physics of ocean circulation and transport. Candidates who utilize observation, experimental, and/or modeling approaches to study physical oceanography / environmental fluid dynamics and solve problems at the interface between ocean circulation and the atmosphere/climate, marine ecosystems, and/or ocean biogeochemistry are encouraged to apply.

Individuals in this position are expected to develop and maintain a vital, externally funded research program and will contribute to a developing undergraduate major concentration in marine sciences and to existing graduate training. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in oceanography, environmental fluid mechanics, or a related field and post-degree experience.
