Pay Range

$170,430 - $218,868 annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Job Description

We have an opening for an Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Process Change & Risk Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the entire process change lifecycle from initiation to completion within the ES&H Directorate. You will also be responsible for overseeing the risk and opportunity management process, including assisting with identifying, defining, evaluating, and mitigating risks/opportunities and serving as the Enterprise Risk Management point of contact for ES&H. These complementary responsibilities will allow the effective integration and management of risks/opportunities and organizational process changes. This position is in the ES&H Directorate within the Operations & Business Principal Associate Directorate.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home 2 days per week.

You will

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust process change management framework within ES&H to ensure seamless implementation and minimizing potential disruptions of changes initiated within the organization;
  • Assist and guide impact assessments to evaluate the potential consequences of complex process changes and assist with development of effective change management plans;
  • Facilitate the ES&H Change Board meeting to monitor and track process changes and to assist with ensuring effective implementation;
  • Facilitate a risk and opportunity management process using independent judgement to assist with the identification, definition, evaluation, and prioritization of emergent risks and opportunities within the ES&H Directorate;
  • Provide leadership and support across ES&H organizations to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and monitor and track key risk indicators to assist in proactively identifying and addressing potential issues;
  • Conduct regular organizational risk reviews to ensure ongoing risk management effectiveness;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities;
  • Serve as the ES&H organization point of contact for institutional change management and risk management practices and interfaces;
  • Develop and maintain meaningful, data driven performance measures for ES&H change management and risk/opportunity management and brief/ inform ES&H Senior Leaders on the changes and risks/opportunities within their organizations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship;
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical science, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and extensive related experience;
  • 10+ years of experience in process improvement, change management, and/or risk management;
  • Expert level understanding of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and a proven ability to analyze complex processes and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills;
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and mitigation techniques and experience with risk management tools and methodologies;
  • Expert situational awareness, problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills necessary to independently advise, recommend, and resolve highly complex problems impacting a large organization;
  • Expert communication, facilitation, collaboration, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills necessary to effectively explain, direct, present, advise, negotiate, and influence all levels of management, both internal and external to the Laboratory.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards that may be impacted by process change or risk/opportunity initiatives;
  • Coaching/mentoring experience allowing for improved process improvement, process change, and risk/opportunity knowledge transfer while working across the ES&H Directorate.

Position Information

This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees may be considered for this position.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.

Per the Department of Energy (DOE), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory must meet certain restrictions with the use and/or possession of mobile devices in Limited Areas. Depending on your job duties, you may be required to work in a Limited Area where you are not permitted to have a personal and/or laboratory mobile device in your possession. This includes, but not limited to cell phones, tablets, fitness devices, wireless headphones, and other Bluetooth/wireless enabled devices.

If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas. Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
