Job Details
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Research Associate with a proven track record in the study of Beam-Beam Effects in Circular Colliders.
In this position, you will contribute to Beam-Beam studies for the FCC-ee and EIC colliders. These studies will utilize state-of-the-art simulation tools including XSuite, WarpX, BeamBeam3D, BMAD, and the Blast toolkit. Study topics include the beamstrahlung-induced 3D flip-flop instability at the FCC-ee and polarization preservation with beam-beam interactions at the EIC. Additional topics may include the development of novel bunch control and collimation systems using beam laser-interactions at FACET-II, and application of beam-beam simulation codes to very high energy linear colliders.
Please contact Spencer Gessner sgess@slac.stanford.edu if you have questions about the position.
Your specific duties include:
- Modeling Beam-Beam effects in the FCC-ee and EIC. Studies of polarization preservation at the EIC. Development of simulation frameworks on computing clusters including S3DF at SLAC and NERSC at LBNL. Participation in the FACET-II experimental program
Note: The Research Associate role is a fixed term staff position. Appointment duration is 24 months, with the possibility of extension. Assignment duration is contingent upon project needs and funding.
