Assistant Professor of Physics

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Chemistry and Physics invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Physics beginning August 2025.

The Department of Chemistry and Physics is part of the College of Science and Technology, which also includes the Departments of Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Industrial and Engineering Technology, and Mathematics.

The College offers undergraduate degrees and three master’s degrees, including an interdisciplinary master’s degree. The College of Science and Technology embraces and excels at first-class experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and close student-faculty relationships.

The successful candidate will teach both lower-level service courses and upper-level physics courses based upon the Department’s needs. The successful candidate is expected to develop an active research program involving undergraduate and interdisciplinary master’s students, to seek external funding to support research initiatives, and to contribute to strengthening the Department and College.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline from an accredited University by hire date

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate teaching experience, a proven record of supervising undergraduate research successfully, and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching are preferred
