The Laboratory for High Energy Physics (LHEP) and Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics at the University of Bern invite applications for a

PhD student position on experimental collider physics

The position will be in the framework of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) at CERN. Our group has a long history of collider physics. We are starting a new dedicated group towards the FCC that will involve detector development and physics studies. There is strong synergy with the ongoing efforts on ATLAS inner detector pixel detector upgrade and searches for new physics.

Candidates for this position are expected to play an active role in the activities of our group. They must have a completed Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics and good knowledge of elementary particle physics. Experience with solid state detectors and/or readout electronics as well as programming-skills will be positively considered in the selection procedure.

The application material includes a letter of application, CV, a list of selected own publications, and the names and addresses of three references (do not send letters, these will be requested by us).

Applications will be reviewed starting February 3rd, 2025, and accepted until the position is filled.

Please send applications packages by email with subject “FCC PhD application” to: marcella.esposito@unibe.ch.

For further information, please contact: Prof. Dr. Michele Weber, michele.weber@unibe.ch.
