Two Postdoctoral positions in theoretical nuclear physics
Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Huizhou, Guangdong and Lanzhou, Gansu, China, Asia).
Many-body methods for nuclear structure and reaction theories, quantum computing.
Two postdoctoral positions are opening at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The postdocs are expected to work either in Huizhou, Guangdong province (a city close to Hongkong, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen) or Lanzhou (the capital city of Gansu province) in China.
The applicant should have the doctoral degree or expect to receive the doctoral degree within one year, and have experience in theoretical studies in nuclear physics (e.g., nuclear many-body methods, nuclear structure and reaction theories). Expertise in code development is welcome. Experience in quantum computing is preferable but not necessarily required.
The successful candidates are mainly expected to work on developing quantum algorithms for nuclear structure and reaction theory. Research directions such as developing novel ab initio nuclear structure and reaction theory are also favored.
The postdocs will work with the members of the nuclear theory group in IMP, particularly Dr. Weijie Du (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=h6eDjPYAAAAJ&hl=en). Weijie Du focuses on developing novel quantum algorithms for ab initio nuclear many-body theories. He has also been working closely with Prof. James P. Vary (Iowa State University), Prof. Andrey M. Shirokov (Moscow State University), and Prof. Xingbo Zhao (IMP) in developing theories and methods for investigating nuclear structure and reactions.
The appointments are initially for one year, and renewable for a second year, with a possible extension for a third year. We offer a competitive salary with qualifications for applying the “CAS Postdoctoral Fellowship” for additional benefits.
The positions can start in the Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2025. As for applications, candidates should submit
1. a research statement (within 2 pages);
2. a curriculum vitae including the publication list;
3. three recommendation letters, as PDF files to Dr. Weijie Du (duweigy@gmail.com). To receive full considerations, the applicant should complete the applications before Mar. 15, 2025.
Contact: Weijie Du (duweigy@gmail.com).
