The candidate will work on topics related to precision measurements in the electroweak sector of the Standard Model and in searches for di-Higgs production, both involving data from the on-going Run-3.
Eligibility : We expect the PostDoc candidate to hold a recent PhD in High Energy Physics and have experience in HEP data analysis workflow (MC generation, reconstruction, systematics evaluation etc.), including modern programming languages like Python and C++. Good knowledge of English and communication skills are necessary for interaction with a dynamic and multi-national analysis team. It is also required from the candidate to have one or more publications in the field.
More Information: The ATLAS group in São Paulo is taking part in several precision measurements in the Electroweak sector of the SM, involving both neutral and charged-current Drell-Yan production, as well as in searches for Higgs pair production in the bbtautau channel. These activities are now gearing-up to explore the larger Run-3 dataset and the perspectives of the upcoming HL-LHC, and it is expected from the candidate to take a leading role in these analyses. The group is also active in the ATLAS High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) for ATLAS HL-LHC Phase-II upgrade, giving the candidate the opportunity to acquire experience and contribute to other areas of the ATLAS Experiment. The grant is initially for one year and extension for one more year can be requested to the funding agency (subjected to approval). It is also expected that the candidate will spend several months at CERN, supported by this grant. Additional resources for conference travels are also contemplated. This grant is part of a large 5-year LHC Special Project Grant by the São Paulo Funding Agency (FAPESP - 2020/04867-2) More information on the FAPESP postdoc grants and conditions can be found here: https://fapesp.br/en/postdoc.
