Job Details

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund is part of the Max Planck Society with a focus on biomedical basic research. Around 500 employees from more than 30 nations are working here.

The Department of Systemic Cell Biology (Prof. Dr. Bastiaens) at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund is offering

Postdoctoral positions (physicist/microscopy development) (m/f/d)

to work in an interdisciplinary team of physicists, biochemists, and cell biologists towards developing lattice-sheet microscopy for multi-parametric molecular imaging of intracellular biochemical reaction states in developing intestinal organoids. The candidate(s) will work with two engineers to develop microspectroscopic approaches in order to interrelate intracellular reaction dynamics and cellular morphodynamics with the aim of bridging large space-time scales in oncoprotein-induced aberrant development of intestinal organoids to uncover new pharmacological avenues of interference with cancer development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive and creative individual(s) with a degree in physics and experience that encompasses the development of optics for biological fluorescence imaging. Ideally, the candidate(s) has experience in applying photophysical approaches for imaging molecular processes and morphodynamics in tissues as well as in developing algorithms for multiscale time‑lapse data analysis.

The position(s) is available immediately for 2 years with the possibility of prolongation. Financial compensation will be carried out according to the public service remuneration scheme TVöD.

The Max-Planck-Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.

The Max-Planck-Society strives for gender equality and diversity within its workforce.

Furthermore, the Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

Please send your application documents including cover letter, current CV, copies of certificates and two references as one document to dept2.jobs@mpi-dortmund.mpg.de by February 28th, 2025.
