The project is pursued in the research group for dark matter and astroparticle physics (DMAP). The group focuses on dark matter detection.

The present position is aimed at detection of axions with the plasma haloscope, ALPHA, recently proposed by Frank Wilczek and his Stockholm group. The ALPHA consortium, including among others Stockholm University, Yale, MIT and Berkeley is currently constructing the initial phase ALPHA detector with expected results within the next years. See here for more information: https://axiondm.fysik.su.se/alpha/.

Apart from axion detection the DMAP group also has an activity in dark matter searches with time projection chambers (XENON project).

Main responsibilities

The main focus of this position is detector simulation, data analysis and statistical inference. Some participation on hardware-oriented work is possible. The position is suitable for candidates with a background in quantum sensing, high energy physics or astrophysics.
