We advertise PhD opportunities in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Sussex. Research topics in QFT are broadly defined and include fixed points in fermionic theories, particle physics, quantum gravity, and UV completions of the Standard Model.

You will investigate various phenomena including critical points and scaling dimensions, running couplings, spectral functions, scattering amplitudes, and physics beyond the Standard Model. You will become familiar with a range of QFT tools including functional renormalisation, perturbation theory, large-N techniques, dualities, and exact methods from supersymmetry.

The start of the PhD program will be in September 2025. To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by 17th February 2025. Prospective students do not need to have already graduated, but it is expected that they finish their studies before the start of the PhD program.

Potential candidates are encouraged to make informal contact with Daniel Litim (d.litim@sussex.ac.uk) and/or Manuel Reichert (m.reichert@sussex.ac.uk).

Applications should be submitted by the online system of the University of Sussex: https://www.sussex.ac.uk/study/phd/apply.

More information about the available projects and the application procedure can be found on the Sussex Theoretical Particle Physics page https://www.sussex.ac.uk/tpp/vacancies/studentships.
