The Department of Physics at the Ohio State University, along with the Center for Cosmology and Astro Particle Physics (CCAPP), is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work on experimental high-energy neutrino physics under the supervision of Prof. Zoya Vallari.
The group is involved in several key analyses, hardware, and operations projects for the neutrino oscillation experiments NOvA and DUNE, as well as in the combined oscillation analyses between NOvA and T2K. The Post Doctoral Scholar will take a leading role in data analysis, calibration, operations, and software development projects within these experiments . Travel to Fermilab, CERN and other locations for conferences or collaboration meetings is expected.
The initial appointment will be for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal. In addition to competitive salary, this position comes with travel support, and a $3k relocation fund. This position is anticipated to be affiliated with CCAP, providing the postdoc with the opportunity to join a community of postdocs for discussions, seminars, professional development, and cross-collaboration.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conduct independent research and lead experimental and analysis efforts in neutrino physics.
- Collaborate with other researchers to develop new research directions.
- Write papers, present research results at conference and workshop.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Travel to the experimental sites such as Fermilab and CERN
Necessary Qualifications: The candidate must have either completed a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics or be on track to complete their Ph.D. by the time of appointment. During their Ph.D. the candidate must have demonstrated:
- Independence and exceptional ability in research
- Mentorship, science-communication and outreach
- Ability to collaborate and work with a diverse group of people
