The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of gravitational wave physics.

The research program of the GW group at the VUB includes a large topics in the domain of high energy physics and gravitational waves (gravitational wave background, modelling of cosmological sources, data analysis methods). The postdoc will be immersed in a very active group working in these areas.

The research activity of the postdoc will be focused on gravitational wave physics, involving theoretical aspects and/or data analysis.

The gravitational waves group at VUB (A. Mariotti, M. Sakellariadou, A. Sevrin) is part of the Virgo/LIGO collaboration and of the BelGrav network, and it is actively involved in the development of the future observatory Einstein Telescope and its R&D facility ETpathfinder. The group is also part of the iBOF network of excellence “Unlocking the Dark Universe with Gravitational Wave Observations”, as well as of the IRI project "Essential Technologies for the Einstein Telescope”, concerted initiatives involving the VUB, KULeuven, UGent and UAntwerpen to boost gravitational wave research in Flanders.

The postdoc is expected to strengthen the research in gravitational wave physics and the impact of the VUB group in the GW international collaborations.

The postdoc position is open until filled and the duration of the position is either 2 or 3 years. The appointment starting date will be defined with the selected candidate, but no later than fall 2025.

The application should contain a CV, the list of publications and a research statement (max 2 pages).

The application documents should be sent by email to Alberto.Mariotti@vub.be and Alexandre.Sevrin@vub.be clearly mentioning in the subject line “GW PostDoc”.

The applicant should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent by email to the same addresses.
