Salary: The salary range will be £45,610 - £53,757 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Atomic Molecular Optical and Positron Physics (AMOPP) research group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London seeks to appoint a new Lecturer (equiv. to Assistant Professor) in Experimental AMO Physics, with research interests encompassing the general area of precision tests of fundamental physics using AMO techniques. This could include, but is not limited to, tests of bound state QED, studies of exotic atoms or molecules, tests of fundamental symmetries, dark matter searches, searches for time-variations of the fundamental constants, tests of the equivalence principle, or tests of the foundations of quantum mechanics.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in state-of-the-art experimental AMO physics, and an excellent record of high-quality publications in leading international journals commensurate with their career stage and subject area. Applicants must have a PhD in experimental physics or a related subject, and postdoctoral research experience. We expect applicants to demonstrate their ability to establish an internationally leading independent research programme in experimental AMO physics with an emphasis on precision tests of fundamental physics. They will have a vision for how to obtain external funding to support this research program. They will also be expected to demonstrate a capacity for high-quality teaching.

Candidates will need to upload (1) a CV (including a full list of publications and of previous research funding as appropriate), (2) a statement of research interests and plans (3 pages maximum), (3) a teaching statement (2 pages maximum), and (4) the contact information for three people from whom letters of reference may be requested. A cover letter can be included using the “Statement in Support of your Application” section of the online form.
