Reviewer Engagement Officer - FTC
We are currently recruiting for a Reviewer Engagement Officer on a fixed-term basis for approximately 9 months. If you’re looking for a diverse role where you can see your ideas become reality, then look no further.
You will report into the Reviewer Engagement Manager and support our innovative Peer Review Excellence programme, which is the only peer review training programme tailored for the physical sciences, and its goal is to improve the experience as much as possible for reviewers, as well as train up the next generation of reviewers.
As a team of 2, you will have the opportunity to build a connection with the scientific community and interact with researchers. It’s a diverse and unique role and you’ll have plenty of freedom to come up with your own ideas for improvements and run your projects from start to finish.
What will you be doing?
Key job accountabilities include:
- Help to deliver and optimise our Peer Review Excellence workshops;
- Maintain and optimise the online Peer Review Excellence online course;
- Improve the reviewer user journey;
- Manage our Trusted Reviewer and Training Graduate data.
Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:
- Experience in an editorial role within journals publishing;
- Demonstrable understanding of peer review in the physical sciences;
- Demonstrable data-driven approach to decision making,
- Experienced user of relevant software and tools (e.g. ScholarOne, iThenticate)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work to deadlines, time management skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload
- Excellent attention to detail
- Working knowledge of copyright/permissions and intellectual property management would be desirable, but it is not essential;

The contractual location of this role is our Bristol office, but we have recently moved to a hybrid working model with a dynamic and blended combination of office and remote working, dependent on business and team requirements. As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a regular basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wider geographical area.
