We have a fantastic opportunity for a Production Operations Manager to join our Production team. If you are looking to manage and motivate a high performing team to deliver excellent author service to the physics community, then this is the one for you.

Content is the lifeblood of our publishing business, and as a highly reputable STM publisher, the quality & integrity of production is of paramount importance. The Production Operations Manager plays a leading role in the achievement of the department’s objectives through effective team management, driving efficiencies, delivering quality and ensuring an excellent publication experience for authors.

Reporting into our Head of Production, and working as part of the Production Management team which consists of content, supplier, system, partner and other operational experts, you will be managing and motivating a large team, to deliver a high-quality and effective publication service across a range of products. 

What will you be doing?

Key job accountabilities include:

  • Provide operational management and support to production teams to deliver the high-quality publication of content;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Deliver a consistently high-quality publication experience;
  • Effective planning and management of resources to deliver consistently against requirements and  objectives;
  • Develop and implement efficient and high-quality production processes and procedures;
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to implementing production strategy.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Proven people management experience;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Excellent time, task, project management and organisational skills;
  • Successful application of continuous improvement and process management;
  • Highly effective and clear communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Stakeholder management experience is desirable, but not essential;
  • STM Publishing and Production experience would be advantageous.

Flexible Working:

As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a daily/weekly basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wide geographical area who are happy to travel to our centrally-based Bristol office a couple of times a month, subject to business needs.
