The Buildings and Infrastructure Group encompasses exploitation and maintenance of the ESRF technical infrastructures. The group is organized in four units:

Construction: Design and project management for the construction of new buildings, experimental hutches or laboratories

Electrical: MV/LV power distribution, fire protection and telephone system

Fluids: HVAC, cooling systems, air supply systems, liquid nitrogen network and gases

Maintenance and operation: Buildings maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, site roads and handling

Within the construction team, you take part in the modernization, renovation and upgrade projects, adaptation to accessibility issues and construction of new infrastructures (construction of beamlines, laboratories, workshops, technical premises etc.)

As a a general construction engineer, you will join a dynamic team and will be in charge of the following:

  • Coordination of all technical aspects of building and infrastructure construction / renovation / refurbishment projects, liaising with other members of the group or divisions;
  • Carrying out the design of construction work packages (civil engineering, metallic structure, finishing works, etc.) analyzing and validating the technical solutions with the support of specialized design offices when needed, monitoring of design and drawings, development of execution schedules;
  • Drafting of the corresponding technical specifications and call for tenders follow-up;
  • Organization and follow-up of construction work, coordination of the technical work packages until the commissioning and acceptance of works;
  • Costs optimization and budget monitoring;
  • You will also participate to the development of the long-term building maintenance plans with the objective of making the ESRF’s buildings sustainable (investments, proposition of technical improvements for energy saving, project planning);
  • Higher university degree (Master or equivalent 300 ECTS diploma) in the construction field;
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience: maintenance projects, construction or revamping projects, follow-up of design and site construction, civil engineering, finishing works;
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD - SOLIDWORKS;
  • A good knowledge of European and French standards relating to construction is an asset (accessibility, sustainable development);
  • Communication skills and ability to adapt to changing specifications;
  • Team spirit, with ability to work in diverse and multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Fluent in French and English;
  • Technical and scientific rigor required. You must keep up to date with the latest market developments and have a natural sense of responsibility as well as a pragmatic mindset allowing you to be methodical and organized.
