Job Details

The European Spallation Source, ESS, a partnership of European countries, is hiring motivated and inspired people to plan, design, and construct the world’s most powerful neutron source. We seek ambitious, talented people in different fields who are excited about playing a part in the future of science in Europe. The Technical Directorate at ESS in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Detector Integration Specialist position at the headquarters in Lund.

The Detector Group is part of the Neutron Scattering Systems (NSS) Project Division under the Technical Directorate. Our Division provides the design, construction and operation of the neutron instruments at the ESS. The Detector Group routinely collaborates with partners worldwide to provide novel neutron detectors to the NSS, meeting challenging requirements with diverse technologies, many adopted from other disciplines. The Service Section of the Detector Group is responsible for detector integration. The section consists of mechanical and electrical engineers and technicians, QA/QC staff, and assembly personnel, and is strongly supported by the members of the Detector Group Design and Production Section.

Job description

This position provides an opportunity for the successful candidate make a tangible contribution to the creation of a world-class research facility. These subsystems include gas, low voltage, high voltage, instrumentation electronics, slow controls, and readout systems. Experience with the types of neutron detectors to be deployed at the ESS instruments (or the underlying technologies) is a plus.

You will provide expertise to the detector build teams and will work closely with other members of the detector services section.
