Tenure Track -levels (2-4): Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor

We search for excellent candidates that can strengthen or complement our present activities in the fields of aerosol instrumentation, nanoparticle synthesis by gas phase processes, combustion aerosols and atmospheric aerosols. A successful candidate could have a background either in experimental or modeling studies. Strong expertise in the following subfields or a combination there of is a special asset:   

Experimental:   

  • State-of-the-art experimental aerosol analysis   ;
  • Aerosol synthesis & high temperature aerosols   ;
  • Emerging pollutant and air quality studies   .

Modeling:   

  • Aerosol process modeling;
  • Global and regional aerosol modeling;
  • Global and regional scale emission inventories.

If successful, you will be placed at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, based on your experience and expertise. While in the early stages of your career the focus is on research, in time you will be expected to contribute increasingly to teaching, curriculum development and student supervision.   

You will be expected to pursue and supervise world class scientific research in your topic area. Active collaboration with local, national, and global research partners, as well as industry is encouraged. You will be expected to secure substantial external funding for your research as well as nurture interactions with relevant stakeholders for societal impact.

Salaries are based on the job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. A typical starting salary for an Assistant Professor is approximately 4200-4400 EUR/month and for an Associate Professor approximately 4800-5000 EUR/month and for a Professor approximately 5800-6100 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be negotiated for candidates with exceptional experience and/or performance.

  • List of publications according to Academy of Finland guidelines. Please indicate your ten most important publications;

Candidates may be invited for a video interview during the first stage of the recruitment process. The most qualified candidates will be invited to Tampere University for an interview and may undergo an aptitude assessment. They will also undergo a review by external experts and may be required to give a demonstration of their teaching skills.
