Job Details

Company Description

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

It is also in charge of the maintenance of the LHC SC magnet cryostats and construction of spares. These activities take place in a dedicated facility on the CERN site, in Bldg. SMI2, which is complemented by a storage building (Bldg.189). The CMI Section is currently working on the design and construction of various equipment for the work packages WP3 and WP6a of the HiLumi HL-LHC Project (https://hilumilhc.web.cern.ch), and on the maintenance of LHC SC magnet cryostats.

Functions

As an experienced technical engineer and workshop manager in the CMI section, you will :

  • Lead and supervise the cryostats and machine integration facility in building SMI2, as well as the nearby storage building 189.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities taking place in Bldg. SMI2 in accordance with the schedule requirements of the HiLumi HL-LHC Project and LHC magnet refurbishment plan.
  • Anticipate and make sure of availability of personnel, tooling, and components in line with the medium-term plan of the section in order to guarantee smooth and on-time completion of the various jobs.
  • Contribute to the development of detailed production schedules, manufacturing and inspection plans (MIP) and assembly procedures.
  • Enforce the application of the QA/QC procedures throughout the production.
