Pay Range
$6,200.00 - $7,372.00 Monthly
This position is under a step structure. Please note that the step placement is determined by your most recent completed academic year.
Job Description
We have multiple openings for graduate level students and for students that received a bachelors or master’s degree to engage in practical research to further their educational goals. Opportunities include both computational and experimental research on problems associated with bioenergy, microbial communities, biodefense, and innate immunity. These positions are in the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate, Biosciences & Biotechnology Division.
In this role you will
- Students will work with biologists, biochemists and computational scientists engaged in research on specific projects.
- Conduct research in assigned area under limited direction and supervision.
- Report and translate data using common software packages on a PC and/or Macintosh computer.
- Performs technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced technical support to scientist in scientific research and development projects.
- Present work through presentations and/or poster sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or has completed their bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field.
- Demonstrated academic achievement in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field.
- Experience applying basic scientific principles to solve technical problems.
- Ability to operate PC and/or Macintosh computers to translate and report scientific data.
