You will be responsible for selecting appropriate reviewers, making decisions at key stages of the process, and improving author and reviewer service. Your role will provide support and value to members of the STM community during a key part of the publication journey.

This is a diverse role, which offers the opportunity to see cutting edge research, manage an effective peer review process for our customers, and work with a variety of stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

Key job accountabilities:

  • Manage peer review on a number of titles within the portfolio;
  • Maintain peer review times, quality standards and acceptance levels;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for increasing peer review efficiency and quality;
  • Work with different teams (such as Journals Development, Marketing and Journalism) to identify key articles for promotion and improve journal visibility.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrable customer service skills;
  • Experience of communicating with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong team working skills;
  • Time management, planning and decision making skills;
  • University degree, ideally in a scientific subject;
  • Awareness of STM Publishing would be desirable, but it is not essential.

The contractual location of this role is from our Bristol office, but most employees are continuing to work from home until later this year, and in future we will be moving to a more dynamic and blended combination of office and remote working.

What we offer:

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer employees an excellent pension scheme (up to 10% company contribution), discretionary annual bonus scheme, 25+ days holiday, standard 35-hour working week, volunteering days, and a comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, life assurance, as well as a range of flexible benefits such as cycle to work scheme, discounted gym membership, healthcare cash plan, and childcare vouchers.

Our modern and contemporary offices are based in the thriving city centre of Bristol, a stone’s throw away from Temple Meads train station, and within walking distance of Cabot Circus shopping centre, and numerous cafés and restaurants. Named on more than one occasion as the best city in the UK to live in, Bristol is a cosmopolitan and creative city boasting a historic harbour, internationally renowned cultural institutions and home to world-class festivals and events.

To apply, please submit your CV and cover note through our careers site.

We aim to review applications soon after they are received, and will arrange interviews when there’s someone we’re keen to meet, so please don’t hold off applying until the closing date is approaching - we don’t want you, or us, to miss out!
