Job Details

As  Marketing Manager, working with the Head of Content & Engagement Marketing, you will create the strategic vision for lead generation to support content acquisition, along with marketing strategies for your product portfolio including eBooks, conference proceedings series and new Open Access journals.

You will be responsible for achieving annual marketing objectives by managing the implementation of multi-channel marketing campaigns (across email, social, search, webinars, in-person and virtual events), and managing delivery of these activities through a Senior Marketing Executive, who you will line manage, and the wider team.

As part of a high performing team with a passion for modern marketing techniques and modelling best practice in all marketing activity, you will work with internal and external stakeholders globally, and will have  the opportunity to create and shape your own marketing strategy and select the most appropriate tactics.

Key job accountabilities include:

  • Working closely with marketing colleagues to create and develop objectives-driven global marketing strategies to improve positioning, awareness, and impact with customers;
  • Responsibility for the budget, performance, and day to day management of all marketing activities to deliver on the strategic vision;
  • Developing a strong understanding of your customers to help support their needs;
  • Making data-driven decisions to optimise ongoing strategy and activities, and the performance of the team.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in marketing, including creating and managing marketing strategies and tactical plans;
  • Strong understanding of data and how it informs marketing decisions;
  • Experience preparing and managing a budget;
  • A collaborative approach with excellent stakeholder engagement, presentation and written and verbal communication skills;
  • Previous people management experience would be desirable, but is not essential as training and support will be provided;
  • An understanding of STM publishing and Open Access would be desirable, but is not essential.

We know it is unusual for someone to tick every box so, if you don’t meet all the criteria, but demonstrate most of the skills and experience we are looking for, and have the enthusiasm to work with us, go ahead and apply.

What we offer:

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer employees an excellent pension scheme (up to 10% company contribution), discretionary annual bonus scheme, 25+ days holiday (not including bank holidays), standard 35-hour working week, volunteering days, and a comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, life assurance, and a range of flexible benefits such as cycle to work scheme, discounted gym membership, healthcare cash plan, and childcare vouchers.

Our modern and contemporary offices are based in the thriving city centre of Bristol, a stone’s throw away from Temple Meads train station, and within walking distance of Cabot Circus shopping centre, and numerous cafés and restaurants. Named on more than one occasion as the best city in the UK to live in, Bristol is a cosmopolitan and creative city boasting a historic harbour, internationally renowned cultural institutions and home to world-class festivals and events.

Flexible Working:

As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a weekly basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wider geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol a couple of times a month, subject to business needs.

To apply, please submit your CV and cover note through our careers site.

We aim to review applications soon after they are received, and will arrange interviews when there’s someone we’re keen to meet, so please don’t hold off applying until the closing date is approaching - we don’t want you, or us, to miss out!
