Job description
DSRL currently have vacancies for Health Physicists to support the on-going programme of decommissioning work at Dounreay. Our Health Physicists are responsible for providing the site projects with relevant and timely radiation protection information and support, under the guidance of the site Radiation Protection Advisers.

As a Health Physicist at Dounreay you will be working as part of a team of radiological professionals at the cutting edge of decommissioning. You will be actively encouraged and supported to develop your skills and knowledge base whilst you work towards achieving Professional Registration and gaining the Certificate of Competence to be a Radiation Protection Adviser plus the on-going maintenance of professional competence.

  • Qualified to degree level in science or equivalent academic/vocational qualifications and experience
  • Have a good understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements regarding ionising radiation
  • Have experience as a Health Physicist.
  • Knowledgeable in the philosophy and practicable application of radiological protection.
  • Experience in the production of radiological protection documentation including risk assessments and operating procedures and Instructions
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with a wide range of internal staff and external contactor personnel.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and planning skills.
  • Have a positive approach, be self-motivated, assertive and the ability to use initiative.
  • Working towards or holder of RPA2000 RPA certification.
