Job Details
The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund is part of the Max Planck Society and has a focus on biomedical basic research. Around 500 employees from more than 30 nations are working here.
The Department of Systemic Cell Biology (Prof. Dr. Bastiaens) at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund is offering a postdoctoral position (m/f/div) (physicist [m/f/div] /microscopy development) to work in an interdisciplinary team of physicists, biochemists, and cell biologists towards developing lattice-sheet microscopy for multi-parametric molecular imaging of intracellular biochemical reaction states in developing intestinal organoids. The candidate will work with two engineers to develop this microspectroscopic approach in order to interrelate intracellular reaction dynamics and cellular morphodynamics in oncoprotein-induced aberrant development of intestinal organoids with the aim of uncovering new pharmacological avenues of interference with cancer development.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive, and creative individual with a degree in physics and experience that encompasses the development of optics for biological fluorescence imaging. Ideally, the candidate has experience in applying photophysical approaches for imaging molecular processes in cells and in developing algorithms for image processing.
The position is available immediately and is limited to two years with the possibility of prolongation. Financial compensation will be carried out according to the public service remuneration scheme TVöD.
The Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.
The Max Planck Society strives for gender equality and diversity within its workforce.
Furthermore, the Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
Please send your application documents including cover letter, current CV, copies of certificates, and two references as one document to dep2.jobs@mpi-dortmund.mpg.de by July 12th, 2023.
