The Buildings & Infrastructure Group within the Technical and Infrastructure Division encompasses exploitation and maintenance of the ESRF technical infrastructures, defines technical strategies in terms of site evolution for buildings and infrastructure; provides qualified analysis and diagnosis to facilitate the implementation of optimum solutions; shares its expertise with the different divisions in engineering for new projects.

As part of the Construction team, you will participate in the modernization, renovation and ESRF upgrade projects as well as the adaptation of accessibility issues and construction of new infrastructures (construction of beamlines, laboratories, workshops, technical premises etc.).

As a general construction engineer, you will join a dynamic team and will be in charge of the following:

  • Coordination of all technical aspects of building and infrastructure construction/renovation/refurbishment projects, liaising with other members of the group or other divisions.
  • Carrying out the design of construction work packages (civil engineering, metallic structure, finishing works, etc.) analyzing and validating the technical solutions with the support of specialized design offices when needed, monitoring of design and drawings and development of execution schedules.
  • Drafting of the corresponding technical specifications and tenders follow-up.
  • Organizing and follow-up of construction work, coordinating the technical work packages until the commissioning and acceptance of works.
  • Costs optimization and budget monitoring.

You will also participate to the development of the long-term building maintenance plans with the objective of making the ESRF's buildings sustainable (investments, proposition of technical improvements for energy saving and project planning).

  • Higher university degree (Master or equivalent 300 ECTS diploma) in the construction field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience: maintenance projects, construction or renovating projects, follow-up of design and site construction, civil engineering, finishing works.
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD is an asset.
  • A sound knowledge of European and French standards and regulations related to construction is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of French and professional English (working language at the ESRF) is required (B2 level).

  • Communication skills and ability to adapt to changing specifications.
  • Team spirit, with ability to work in diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.

Permanent contract.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
