About the Role

NPL has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Strategic Business Development Non-Executive Director to join our inclusive board.

As a Non-Executive Director - Strategic Business Development, you will have a significant contribution to make to the effective and proper running of NPL. You should bring an independent and objective perspective to strategy and performance. You will work in close partnership with your fellow board members, particularly the Chair, CEO, Deputy CEO and Partnerships Director in helping NPL to realise its fundamental aspirations.

To give you an idea of how this flexible Strategic Business Development Non-Executive Director role will look and feel, these are some of the tasks you can expect to do:

  • Provide constructive, creative and informed challenges to support the executive management of NPL
  • Monitor and provide oversight of the delivery of NPL’s mission and ultimately the agreed Corporate Plan
  • Participate actively in the decision-making processes of the Board 
  • Allow sufficient time to prepare for and follow up from a Board meeting

Time commitment: 18-20 days per year.  

Term: Three-year term with the potential for reappointment. 

Remuneration: £13,500 pa

About You

To be successful, you will need a passion and enthusiasm for working with a mission-led organisation. You will also need respect for the government agenda and a willingness to learn. 

Additional requirements include:

  • A genuine passion for creating an inclusive environment that fosters diversity
  • Risk management experience and focus  
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement with senior industry managers
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of customer strategies that balance quality and growth
