Senior Salesforce Developer, UK based

IOP Publishing are about to embark on a substantial Salesforce implementation, covering Sales, Marketing and Customer Service and are looking for a Senior Salesforce Developer to join the team.

Job Overview

This a new role within IOP Publishing, has been created as part of establishing a Salesforce Centre of Excellence, that will be responsible for implementing and supporting Sales Cloud, CPQ, Service Cloud Pardot and some components of Marketing Cloud. This is part of major transformation project as is expecting to have around 180 Salesforce users.

We are working with a global Salesforce system integrator (SI), so the role will need to work closely with the SI.

The ideal candidate will bring a genuine enthusiasm for Salesforce and the ability to thrive in an environment characterised by continual learning, including 10% time for learning and experimentation, cross-functional collaboration and flexibility. You will be a strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively and clearly with your team and business stakeholders.

About the Tech team

We are a hardworking, dedicated bunch of over 60 staff who care passionately about technology and how we can work together to design, deliver, and maintain the best solutions for our customers. Our department is organised into twelve full stack, agile, product teams.  We love to learn from each other so encourage cross functional communities of practice to grow our tech capabilities such as Agile, DevOps and Security.  This is an exciting time to be joining Tech as we are a key part of IOP Publishing's digital transformation strategy which will be receiving significant investment over the coming years. Our digital portfolio includes the IOPscience journals platform, Physics World news and regional websites.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Leading on the design for solutions on the Salesforce platform team based on analysis of customer requirements.
• Driving the adoption of simplified architecture.
• Supervising the work of more junior engineers.
• Designing, implementing, maintaining, and configuring the systems that make up the IOP software landscape.
• Lead on ensuring that application risks are identified, recorded, prioritised, and clearly communicated to stakeholders.
• Shared responsibility for the reduction of TOIL through automation.
• Attend retrospective lessons learned meetings and implement follow up actions.
• Responsible for working collaboratively and proactively to keep the systems secure.
• Building on DevOps and Agile principles to promote collaboration, responsibility, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

About you:
Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

• Salesforce Developer certifications.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in the development and maintenance of Salesforce systems.
• In-depth knowledge of Salesforce products and their functionality, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Pardot/Marketing Cloud.
• Familiarity with tools such as OwnBackup, SFDX, CLI. Visual Studio Code and GitHub, WebMerge;
• Ability to effectively communicate with and persuade colleagues, and enjoy working directly with end users

• Experience of Web Services and Micro Service architectures.
• Some experience of AWS.

Flexible Working:

The contractual location of this role is from our Bristol office. As a company, we are currently moving to a hybrid working model (subject to Covid restrictions) with a dynamic and blended combination of office and remote working, dependent on business and team requirements.

As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a weekly basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wider geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol once per quarter, subject to business needs.
