Research Field and Overview

The accelerator group, consisting of seven teams, is pursuing various upgrade programs for the world-leading heavy-ion accelerator facility, RI-Beam Factory (RIBF), to enhance the accelerator performance and operation efficiency. We are also promoting developments of the RIBF for applications to a variety of research fields.

The position at the time of hiring will be determined through the selection process.

Job description

The successful candidate is to belong to the Beam Dynamics and Diagnostics Team. The candidate will be involved in the upgrading, operation and maintenance of the beam diagnostic devices and their electrical systems to increase the intensity and stability of the RIBF accelerators. The candidate will also carry out research and development of the beam diagnostic devices that will be used in the “Charge Stripper Ring”. Through these R&D activities, the candidate is expected to play a central role in the future plan of RIBF.

In addition, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the management of the team. Senior Research Scientist or Senior Technical Scientist is also expected to assist the team leader.

Qualification

Doctoral degree (or equivalent research ability and background) in the relevant research field.

Experiences on the particle accelerators are not necessarily required.

Start of employment

RIKEN expects that the successful applicant will be able to take up this position at the earliest opportunity after July 1, 2024.
